Mary Mullan is a filmmaker. She studied film at the National Film School in Ireland (IADT). She graduated with a distinction in her Diploma, and went on to specialise in Direction in her Degree year. Her graduate film, Tongue, won the UK Fuji Scholarship award based on the screenplay and the final film won best art direction and sound in competition with 35 colleges throughout the UK.

She went on to win an Irish Film Board/RTE Short Cuts award for her film Homeboy, which she directed. She also directed a short film Jack, which she adapted from a short story. All three of her short films have been shown on television and at festivals worldwide and won prizes.

She studied a masters in screenwriting at the London College of Communications and a masters in computer animation at London Metropoliton University.

She also works as a visual effects artist; her credits include the oscar winning Interstellar, The Martian, Beauty And The Beast, Assassin’s Creed and King Arhur: Knights of the Round Table and The Crown – Season 2. She is currently working on the 4th Avengers.  

 She produced, directed and edited a one hour feature film The Bench. Following a successful run at film festivals in 2017, The Bench is currently available to watch on Amazon UK and Amazon USA. 

She is a member of Directors UK, Cinesisters and Writers Guild of Ireland.
